First of all, my friend and editor Elizabeth Carlton is running a contest to promote the debut of her first novel! Please take a moment to view her video for specific details, and head over to her Facebook fan page for more information.
Here is a sneak peak at The Royal Rouge, expected to release in 2012.
When the Rahenyan people become prey to a powerful illusionist known as the Shadow Master, Prince Jaycent is forced to seek the help of a forsaken band of kinfolk known as the Re’shahna. Famous for their knowledge of Rahenyan past, the Re’shahna’s leader, Patchi, bids Jaycent to rediscover the innate gifts of his race. But time is running short. Patchi’s riddles lead the prince on a compass-less journey as he tries to discover what the illusionist is after while battling a series of haunting visions bent on his demise. Desperate for help, Jaycent enlists the aid of a gypsy named Levee, and together they uncover the secret to their people’s past and the unique abilities that gave the Rahee – or “horse-hearted” – their name. But will their newly found powers be enough to save them?
I met Elizabeth through using herwriting services. We became critique partners – Elizabeth was one the first editors of my YA novel, Battleground, and in the process, I had the opportunity to edit and critique TRR. Both mss have evolved since then, and I’m so excited to see the dedication of Elizabeth as a writer and the progress that TRR has made. Congratulations, friend.
